On Saturday 27th June, we gathered to wave off a shipping container bound for Zimbabwe, packed with hope for the women and young people we support.

Right at the front sat AWR's barrels, laundry bags and sewing machines. The journey began at CART, the charity that generously supports African Women Renaissance, where our supporters rolled up their sleeves to help load the container. Then, together, we waved the truck off on the first leg of its long trip to Harare.

The consignment is destined for communities in and around Bulawayo: the Sandra Jones Orphanage, two ladies' sewing groups, a youth club, a group of young women, and a brand-new village library. Every sewing machine and every bag will help create opportunity and independence.

The container is expected to arrive in Harare in around six weeks. The timing is perfect: AWR founder Jennie Ngulube will be in Zimbabwe to welcome it and visit our projects, seeing first-hand the difference this support makes.
